Daggerheart version 1.4 is now available!
The latest Open Beta Playtest materials are accessible at Daggerheart.com, Demiplane, and DriveThruRPG. Take note that when you download the materials on the Daggerheart.com website, we have now separated out the files into individual downloads—we know that sometimes internet connections can be slow, so we hope this helps you access the files you need more easily.
As always, the Change Log outlines everything you need to know about the changes, but there are some new and updated files worth calling out specifically:
- NEW: GM Reference Guide
- UPDATED: Quickstart Adventure The Sablewood Messengers
Coming SOON will also be a NEW Tier 1 Adventure (Levels 2–4): The Marauders of Windfall, which works perfectly with your own characters standalone OR as a continuation of The Sablewood Messengers and its pre-generated characters! Stay tuned for a future #DaggerheartDrop.
While there are fewer rules updates in 1.4 than in 1.3, here are a few to note:
- Advantage has returned to a d6 advantage/disadvantage die (for players)
- Ancestries now grant you two features, and if you want to play a character descended from multiple ancestries, we encourage you to talk to your GM and pick features from across ancestries!
- GMs now have more guidance on GM NPCs
- Optional rule that allows GMs to roll a critical success on their attacks
- Gaining Fear is now a move the GM can make on a roll with Fear—this is similar to how it worked 1.3, but simplifies the framing a bit. Anytime your players roll with Fear, you can immediately look to your Fear Moves to see that you can choose to gain fear or take any of the other actions there.
- Druids, come get your Beast Form: we have some additional guidance for you!
We hope that these updates will improve your gameplay, and be sure to let us know what you think via the surveys!
How Do I Get Updated?
To update your current characters and gameplay to the new version, we recommend you review the “All v1.4 Updates” folder or visit the Change Log. Determine which cards you need to grab new versions of, and print new character and reference sheets which have all been updated. All the cards that received changes are included in a handy 1.4 Updated Card folder in the downloadable file.
